ANT CONTROL BY NO-NONSENSE PEST CONTROLThe Black Ant, also known as the garden ant normally forms a nest in gardens, under paving stones, foundations or occasionally within buildings and can be found just about anywhere in the Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Ringwood, Verwood and surrounding areas. They are not normally a health risk, more a nuisance. They have a wide varied diet and are particularly attracted to sweet substances. When an ant finds a food source it will lay a pheromone (scent) trail back to the nest, where it will communicate with other workers, these workers in turn will then be able to locate the food causing large numbers to invade an area.

If ants are seen indoors they will be foraging for food, so any spills or food that is attracting them should be removed or cleaned up as soon as possible. By following the trail of ants, it may be possible to locate the entry point and it can be sealed by various methods to prevent further intrusions.

If ants are causing problems outdoors, there are various products on the market, but should only be applied as per the instructions on the product labels, as certain products, especially powders, can be harmful to other animals and pets, especially cats.Ants nest

New colonies are produced through a process known as “swarming,” which occurs when a mature colony produces winged males and queens. These fly out and mate in the air during a few days in July or August then the queens seek out new nest sites to lay eggs, the following spring, to begin a new colony.
