Common Rat

Common Rat – (Rattus norvegicus)

rat control

Rats are a very common pest in both urban and rural areas, posing a significant health risk to humans and pets. Rats and all rodents carry common diseases including Salmonella, Weil’s disease, E.coli, Cryptosporidiosis and Tuberculosis. They also carry fleas, mites and ticks, which can cause acute allergic reactions.

Rats are nocturnal, usually hiding from humans, and have to constantly gnaw to keep the length of their teeth manageable. They cause numerous amounts of damage to property and foodstuffs.
Rats can and do climb, live largely outside in burrows but will find their way indoors when access is allowed. They live in colonies of a hierarchical nature.
